Food for the Poor, Inc.
"Food for the Poor was founded on the
basis of the Gospel. We seek out the poorest of the poor in 16
different countries, aiding some of the most destitute. In each face
we see the living Christ, who is hungry, thirsty, a stranger and
naked. Our ministry focuses on the greatest needs of the destitute."

Do you love kids?
Are you patient?
Would you like to help change the world –
one child at a time? |

If you answered
yes to these questions, Doyle School Community
Center would like to talk to you. Doyle Center is a non-profit
organization located on the corner of Paschal and Barnett in Kerrville.
This program can use qualified mentors in the mornings and in the
afternoons. The morning program will be a one on one scheduled program. The
afternoon program is more flexible. About 20 to 25 students come in the
afternoons to receive help on their homework or just to have someone with a
good heart and soul listen to them read. The students range from second
grade to junior high school. This job requires a volunteer who is a self
starter and is not put off by a slow beginning.
Doyle Center is working to develop relationships between the tutors and the
students. Most of the students are from lower income backgrounds. The tutors
usually spend one or two days a week with their students. The Center
provides some snacks and computers with learning software from 3:30 to 5:30
Monday through Friday.
If you are interested, please contact Patrick Cass, the Executive Director
at the Doyle School Community Center. His office hours are from 9:30 to
5:30. The phone at the Center is (830) 257-4446.
A criminal background check is required for this volunteer position for the
safety of the children and the volunteers. Call or come in to visit and see
what we are trying to do. |
