Prayer for Mercy and Conversion
Out of the Priests for Life Subscription a Penance Prayer

God our Father, You are rich in mercy, overflowing with compassion, and eager to forgive.

You have created all life, entrusting each person to the mercy of its safest place.

We have pretended that the decree of a Court makes it all right to kill your children. Now we approach that date when each year we remember that tragic decision.

Lord, as your people prepare to pray, to march and to work to end the tragedy of abortion, makes us a sign of your great mercy.

Make us instruments through which Your forgiveness will heal our land and convert those who tolerate abortion.

Bring our courts before Your court, and our hearts before Your heart, and purify us completely.

Give us, individually and as a nation the joy of holiness, the peace of salvation and the blessing of life eternal, Through Christ our Lord. Amen!

Miscellaneous Prayers

Prayer for Lent

Lord Jesus, in your most difficult hour, you asked your friends to watch and pray with you. We pray now for the courage to remain faithful to you, surrounded as we are by the difficulties of our own lives. Help us to learn from you what it means to take up your cross each day and seek the will of the Father. As our Lenten Prayer and action brings us closer to you open our eyes to the gift of your saving grace in our lives. We ask this in your most holy name. Amen.

Prayer for Rain

O Supreme Lord of Creation, maker of heaven and earth, of nature and seasons and all weather, we acknowledge today our powerlessness in face of the drought upon our land, and we beg Your mercy upon us as we ask You to send forth beneficial rain from heaven to quench the parched ground and renew the fields and grasses, the trees and flowers, and all the damaged crops. We implore Your forgiveness for our many sins against Your creation and our daily failures to be good stewards of the earth. We promise to be more caring toward the resources of water, rain, and soil that You have given to sustain us, and which we have fouled by our own negligent and destructive power. Lord, look upon us with mercy and send us rain. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Prayer for Vocations

Bountiful God, you are boundless with your blessings and faithful to your promises. Through our ancestors in faith we have come to know and to trust in your guidance on our life's journey. At Jesus' baptism you confirmed him in his mission. Commission us through our baptismal graces to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

Open our hearts to recognize your holy calling. Bless our church with devoted married couples, committed single men and women, and dedicated deacons, priests, sisters, and brothers.

Guide those who are discerning how best to serve you. With your favor, we set out to proclaim your reign through Jesus, your beloved Son in the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil; may God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou O prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about he world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

Prayer for our Community for Pentecost

God, source of our life, sustainer of our being, we pray especially for this community of faith that nourishes us so well to serve as your disciples; and for the work of our parish ministers. May your Spirit continue to flow through us and guide us in faithful care of all that we have received. Thank you for the gift of loving spiritual relatives and friends, who want to support and be supported in turn, who want to help and be helped in bringing us together in community. May we grow in our awareness that we are all sacred, worthy and very holy, here to heal, grow, love and serve the greatest good for all, creating a just and peaceful world for all. With your help, may it be so. Amen

Father's Day Prayer

Humble St. Joseph, like you I have been called to set up and maintain a home where everything revolves around the love of God the Father of all. Through your intercession obtain for me first the grace to more fully comprehend the magnitude of this calling, then the grace to transform all the words I speak at home into loving ones, the grace to transform every vexing event that happens there into a school of virtues. And, good St. Joseph, secure for me finally the simple grace to have always on my lips the sweet phrase, "What Would Joseph Do?"

Mother's Day Prayer

Mary, Mother of the Church, your home in Nazareth modeled for us all that is holy, loving and nurturing about family life. May we use your example to cultivate within our own home a domestic church wherein God's laws, God's will, God's truths guide our lives. Blessed Mother, intercede for our family that we may be a healthy and happy part of the larger Body of Christ. We ask your protection especially in times of turmoil, and are grateful for the many blessings you have gained for us through your prayers. We ask this through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in unity with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
